Terms of Service
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and Jordan Matthew Gibson ("Shieldline," "we," "us," or "our"). By creating an account, purchasing a subscription, or using Shieldline, you agree to these Terms and the Privacy Policy.
1. Eligibility and your phone line
You must be legally able to enter this agreement and must control, or have authorization to configure, the US mobile line you register. Shieldline is a US-only service. You are responsible for accurate account and carrier information and for safeguarding access to your phone and account.
2. How the service works
Shieldline instructs you to configure conditional call forwarding on your own device. When you decline an eligible call, your carrier may forward it to a Shieldline toll-free number. Shieldline attempts to read the ANI or other signalling delivered on that forwarded call, associate the call with your account, provide available caller and carrier details, ring your line, apply your block list, or take voicemail.
3. Carrier forwarding and charges
Forwarding is configured on your own device and remains subject to your carrier's network, plan, policies, codes, and availability. A carrier may reject a forwarding code, accept it without activating it, change it later, or impose airtime, forwarding, long-distance, roaming, or other charges. You are responsible for your carrier relationship and charges.
Signing out, deleting the app, or deleting your Shieldline account may not disable forwarding on your phone line. Use the carrier disable code shown by Shieldline or contact your carrier. You are responsible for confirming that forwarding is enabled when wanted and disabled when no longer wanted.
4. Subscriptions, trials, and renewal
Paid access is offered through auto-renewing monthly and annual subscriptions. Current pricing, billing period, trial eligibility, taxes, and other purchase terms are displayed before confirmation. If a 7-day free trial is offered and you do not cancel before it ends, the selected paid subscription begins and renews automatically until cancelled.
iOS purchases. Purchases made in the iOS app are processed by Apple through StoreKit and charged to your Apple ID. Apple manages billing, renewals, refunds, and cancellation. You can manage or cancel in Settings > your Apple ID name > Subscriptions on your Apple device. Cancellation takes effect under Apple's rules, generally at the end of the current paid period. Deleting your Shieldline account does not cancel an Apple subscription.
Android or web purchases. Where offered, purchases are processed by Stripe and may be managed through the Shieldline billing portal. Cancellation stops future renewal but does not ordinarily create a refund for the current period, except where required by law or the payment provider's rules.
We may change prices prospectively. Any price change will be presented or communicated as required by the applicable store, payment provider, and law.
5. Acceptable use
You may use Shieldline only for lawful personal call identification, screening, documentation, and safety purposes. You must not:
- use Shieldline to harass, threaten, intimidate, stalk, surveil, dox, discriminate against, or endanger another person;
- use the service to identify, locate, contact, publish information about, or retaliate against any person for an unlawful purpose;
- record, disclose, sell, redistribute, or otherwise use caller information, audio, or transcripts in violation of applicable law;
- register a phone line you do not control or configure forwarding without authorization;
- probe, disrupt, overload, reverse engineer, bypass access controls, automate abusive requests, or use the service to facilitate fraud or telecom abuse; or
- misrepresent a Shieldline evidence export as signed, notarized, independently verified, or guaranteed admissible.
6. Your legal responsibilities
You are responsible for complying with laws governing caller identification, call recording, consent, interception, privacy, disclosure, evidence, harassment, and use of telephone information. Rules differ between jurisdictions, including between one-party and all-party consent states. Shieldline does not provide legal advice. Consult your own attorney before recording, retaining, sharing, or using information if you are uncertain about the law.
7. User content and licenses
You retain your rights in information you submit and content associated with your account. You grant Shieldline a limited license to host, process, transmit, reproduce, and disclose that content only as reasonably needed to operate, secure, support, and improve the service, comply with law, and enforce these Terms.
8. Service changes and availability
We may add, change, suspend, or discontinue features, integrations, carriers, or service areas. Telecom networks and third-party providers can fail or change without notice. Shieldline is not an emergency, law-enforcement, carrier, legal, or evidence-certification service.
9. Termination
You may stop using Shieldline and delete your account at any time, subject to separately cancelling any Apple-managed subscription and disabling carrier forwarding. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms, create harm or legal exposure, abuse telecom or provider systems, fail to pay, or if continued operation is no longer commercially or legally practical. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination will survive.
10. Disclaimer of warranties
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SHIELDLINE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE." Jordan Matthew Gibson DISCLAIMS ALL EXPRESS, IMPLIED, AND STATUTORY WARRANTIES, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, ACCURACY, AVAILABILITY, SECURITY, AND THAT EVERY CALLER WILL BE IDENTIFIED OR EVERY RECORDING OR TRANSCRIPT WILL BE COMPLETE OR CORRECT.
11. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, Jordan Matthew Gibson AND HIS EMPLOYEES, CONTRACTORS, AND SERVICE PROVIDERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST PROFITS, LOST DATA, PERSONAL INJURY, PROPERTY DAMAGE, FAILED IDENTIFICATION, CARRIER CHARGES, OR ACTIONS TAKEN IN RELIANCE ON SHIELDLINE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATING TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR SHIELDLINE DURING THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM OR US$100. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of this section may not apply to you.
12. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any venue, arbitration, class-action waiver, or other dispute procedure should be added here only after review by qualified counsel.
13. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms as the service or law changes. We will post revised Terms with a new effective date and provide additional notice when required. Continuing to use Shieldline after revised Terms take effect means you accept them, except where law requires another form of consent.
